LIBRARY'S MissioN

Pacific Rim Christian University Library’s purpose is to facilitate the university’s discipleship of emerging Christian leaders by providing access to information resources and library services supportive of its biblical higher education curriculum.

LIBRARY'S VISION

Our vision is to provide an intellectually rich and supportive environment for students to embark on research voyages. All physical and digital resources acquired are meant to have relevance to current research trends in theology and Christian thinking and provide a high level of academic excellence. The Library team consists of well-trained servant leaders who will provide the highest level of possible aid based on our varied knowledge and skills. We serve as a student-centered Library in which quality services and student success are our primary goals and are recognized and shared by all staff.

We are here for you year-round, with the exception of some school-observed holidays (please refer to your Academic Calendar for exact dates)

  • Monday - Friday: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

  • Saturdays and Sundays: Closed

LIBRARY SERVICES


The Library consistently develops and evaluates its physical and electronic collections to best serve the research needs of the university community. As a research library, teaching information literacy is our primary goal and we continue to seek ways in which we can improve in this area. We endeavor to provide the most comprehensive and valuable collection of Christian theology and Bible studies in the state of Hawai’i. 

 

Library Use Privileges

PacRim students, alumni, staff, and faculty may borrow library materials. Visitors are encouraged to contact the Library Director.

Loan Periods

Students and staff members may borrow books for three (3) weeks with the option to renew an additional three weeks. Faculty may borrow books for longer periods. 

Book Holds

A hold may be requested by clicking the "Place a hold" button in the Populi library catalog record of an item.

Book Returns & Fines

All library materials should be returned to the Circulation Desk book drop or given to the Librarian. An overdue fine of $0.25 per day will be applied to a student's Populi library account.

Cell Phone Usage

The library is committed to providing an atmosphere that is conducive to focused study. Appropriate use of cell phones or similar electronic devices should be handled with common sense. Courtesy to others is the ultimate objective. Cell phones must be set to silent in the library. All users should take any calls outside of the library. Users who do not follow this rule will be asked to end the conversation or leave the library. 

Food & Beverages

Beverages in containers with lids or water bottles are permitted in all areas of the library. Please use extra care in handling beverages near the library computers so as to avoid any spills and damages. Food is not allowed in the library. 

Noise

Users are asked to use common sense when talking and working in the library. If a person is being disruptive, the library staff will warn the student. If it happens a second time, the person will be asked to leave the library. 

Lost & Found

Items found and turned in to the Circulation Desk are kept there for approximately two weeks. The Library will make every effort to notify the owner as soon as possible of any valuable items found such as IDs, wallets, or phones. Valuable items will be stored in the Librarian’s office until the owner claims it. 

Please do not leave any personal belongings unattended in the library, especially purses, wallets, backpacks, laptops, or any other electronic devices. The library does not under any circumstances take any responsibility for theft, damage, or loss of property.
